Quick and Easy Shrimp Boil

5 – 6 pounds of fresh head on medium size shrimp

(Only the freshest shrimp have the heads still on, once the heads are removed the shrimp can be held on ice for a longer period of time)

1 dozen small fresh red skinned potatoes

1 dozen ears of corn (frozen are ok, if fresh remove husk)

2 – 3 small pealed onions

2 – 3 cans or bottles of beer (not lite beer)

Spices:

Zatarans liquid crab/shrimp boil or boiling bag (2 tablespoons or 1 bag)

Or (for the die hard do it yourselfers)

            Tabasco sauce (1 tablespoon)

            Minced garlic (1/4 cup)

            Ground red pepper (1 teaspoon)

            Ground black pepper (1 teaspoon)

            Paprika (1 teaspoon)

            Oregano (1 teaspoon)

            Thyme (1 teaspoon)

            Lemon juice (1/2 cup)

            Salt (2 tablespoons)

(You can adjust the spices more or less to suit your own taste)

Combine all ingredients in a very large stockpot then add enough water to completely cover by 1 – 2 inches.  Bring to a boil and cook (boil) for 12 – 15 minutes.  Check potatoes and corn, when they are done remove from the heat and drain.  Feeds 6 – 8 people.

*Zatarans and Tabasco are brand names.  I don’t have any connection to them, I just think they are the best.
