Beef Jerky

Want to make your own beef jerky?  You'll need a dehydrator.  They're usually under $30 at most department stores and you can often find them at yard sales and thrift stores for around $5-10.

Here's the recipe:
1-2 pounds beef flank steak (or similar cut)
soy sauce
Tabasco
garlic
fresh ground pepper

slice the beef on a diagonal into very thin strips

in a medium mixing bowl combine
about 1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 - 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (depends on how spicy you want it)
1/2 teaspoon crushed garlic
fresh ground black pepper

add the beef to the liquid and mix well
remove the beef strips and place on the dehydrator trays (do not overlap the strips of beef)
stack the trays cove and turn on the dehydrator
rotate the trays every 12 hours
takes about 24 - 48 hours depending on the thickness of the beef strips
enjoy
